Windows 10 pro - 1709 (OS Build 16299.192)
Controller - Afterglow Wireless controller for PS3
Controller driver - XBox 360 controller
Notes - windows, and ALL apps treat this controller as an xbox 360 controller natively.
Everything I've found on google says this problem is caused by controller settings in Steam. I've changed the proper controller setting in Steam ,and this still happens. It also happens with Steam closed. I do have other software that allows me to control the keyboard, and mouse with the controller, but I'm seeing this behavior, with that software closed as well.
Apparently at some point, Microsoft introduced a feature that allows xbox controllers to control UWP apps. This feature is actually causing me a LOT of problems, (because I'll be in something like Skype, then pick up the controller, not thinking about the game being out of focus, press a button, and OOPS! I just called whatever contact is showing, because my controller is controlling SKype, instead of doing nothing, like I'd expect it to do, when my game is not in focus) and since I don't ever play UWP games that require a controller, can someone please tell me how to completely disable this feature? Unless they forgot to add this toggle, i'm sure i'm just missing it somewhere.
Thanks in advance.
